(Paradise Valley, AZ) The Pima Community College baseball team (39-10, 23-10 in ACCAC) played a single ACCAC conference game at Paradise Valley Community College (29-16, 21-11) on Saturday in Phoenix.
The No. 9 ranked Aztecs fell to the Pumas 7-0 snapping their nine-game winning streak.
L – Roberts (5-2)
The Aztecs managed five hits for the game and left eight runners on base. They left two runners on base in the 4th inning and after back-to-back singles by sophomores Caden Richards and Nolan Ganter (Pinnacle HS), they recorded three straight outs to end the threat.
The Pumas scored one run in the 1st inning, three runs in the 3rd inning, two runs in the 7th and one in the 8thinning.
Richards finished the game 2 for 3 with a walk. Ganter was 1 for 3 with a walk while sophomore Andrew Grenert (Horizon HS) also went 1 for 3. Freshman Sean Barta finished 1 for 4 and freshmen Jackson Glueck and Ernie Alvarez (Canyon del Oro HS) each had a walk.
Sophomore Maclain Roberts took the loss as he pitched five and one-third innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk on 85 pitches.
The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field on Tuesday when they host an ACCAC conference game against Chandler-Gilbert Community College. First pitch is at 3:00 p.m.
