(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (9-7-3) inched closer to a Region I, Division I playoff spot as the Aztecs shut out Cochise College (5-10-4) on Thursday at Kino North Stadium.
The Aztecs beat the Apaches 2-0 and earned a regular season sweep in head-to-head meetings. Pima beat Cochise 3-0 last month in Douglas.
The Aztecs got on the board when a Cochise miscue gave sophomore Perla Blanco (Sunnyside HS) a goal in the 41st minute.
Freshman Alyssa Canez (Canyon del Oro HS) helped seal it with her goal in the 86th minute with an assist from sophomore Tayler Rhinehart.
Sophomore Mackenzie Bernal (Tanque Verde HS) also helped preserve the shutout as she finished with seven saves.
The Aztecs hold on to the No. 5 seed and will close out the regular season on Saturday when they host Glendale Community College at Kino North Grandstand. The match begins at 11:30 a.m.
