(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College softball player Jiselle Nunez (Tucson Magnet HS) continued her strong start to the season as she produced on offense during the week of Feb. 16-22.
Nunez, a freshman infielder, was named ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the second time this season. She earned her first award for the week of Feb. 2-8.
Nunez batted .700 (7 for 10) in three games played with eight RBIs, three runs scored, two doubles, a home run and a stolen base as the Aztecs went 4-0 with wins over Chandler-Gilbert Community College and Eastern Arizona College.
The No. 5 ranked Aztecs split with No. 7 Phoenix College on Tuesday. Pima won the first game 10-2 snapping the Bears’ 16-game winning streak. The Aztecs fell in the second game 4-3, having their 19-game winning streak snapped.
The Aztecs (19-1, 13-1 in ACCAC) are back in action on Tuesday when they host Mesa Community College in an ACCAC conference doubleheader at the West Campus Aztec Softball Field. First game starts at noon.
