(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (8-6-3) picked up a big win on Saturday at Kino North Grandstand.
The Aztecs earned a shutout win over Mesa Community College 1-0. The Aztecs were tied with Chandler-Gilbert Community College for the No. 5 spot in the ACCAC standings coming into Saturday’s game. The top six teams reach the NJCAA Region I, Division I playoffs.
Sophomore Tayler Rinehart scored the eventual game-winning goal when she recovered a rebounded ball in the box in the 57th minute. Freshman Gabriela Molina (Cienega HS) had the assist.
Freshman Haven Chambers (Walden Grove HS) finished the game with five saves.
The Aztecs earned a regular season split with the Thunderbirds (6-10-2). The Aztecs fell 1-0 last month in Mesa.
The Aztecs will kick-off Tuesday’s action at Phoenix College at 4:30 p.m.
