(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team was well represented as the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference released its Player and Pitcher of the Week awards for the week of Feb. 2-8.
Freshman Jiselle Nunez (Tucson Magnet HS) was selected the ACCAC Division II Player of the Week as the Aztecs earned sweeps over Glendale Community College and Paradise Valley Community College.
Nunez played in three of the four games, but her impact was undeniable as she went 8 for 12 (.667) with 11 RBIs, seven runs scored, three doubles, a grand slam, a triple and a stolen base.
Freshman Arianna Flores (Salpointe Catholic HS) captured her third straight ACCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week honor. She pitched nine innings, giving up no earned runs on three hits with 23 strikeouts and seven walks in two starts. She was selected ACCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week for the previous week of Jan. 26-Feb. 1 and Jan. 19-25.
The No. 15 ranked Aztecs swept No. 25 South Mountain Community College on Tuesday and will be back in action on Friday at Scottsdale Community College in an ACCAC doubleheader. First game starts at noon.
