(Glendale, AZ)  Another poor shooting night doomed the Park University Gilbert women’s basketball team as they fell to No. 13 Arizona Christian 81-56 at the ACU Events Center Wednesday night.

The Bucs now sit in a three-way tie with Hope International and Benedictine Mesa with two games remaining. Three teams for two spots in the post season GSAC tournament.

Park did not score more than 16 points in any quarter and shot 31 percent from the floor and 24 percent from three-point range making nine trifectas.

The Bucs got 13 points from both Savannah Huerta and Kayla Schroeder, but no other Bucs scored more than eight points. Huerta became the Bucs all-time single season leader in three-point FG made with 87 surpassing the old record set last year by Schroeder.

Alynna Palacios led the team with nine rebounds and Schroeder led the team with three assists.

Up next for the Bucs is a key matchup with Benedictine Mesa on Saturday, February 15 at 12 p.m. at Chandler Gilbert Community College.. The winner of this game will control its destiny heading into its final game of the season. The Bucs lost at BENU earlier this season and has not beaten the Redhawks since February 16, 2022. That matchup also happened to be at Chandler Gilbert CC but Benedictine was the home team for that game.
