(Fullerton, CA) The Park University Gilbert men’s basketball team (5-10, 2-1) lost to the Hope International University Royals (15-2, 3-0) by a score of 41-75 Saturday afternoon at the Darling Pavilion in Fullerton.
The Buccaneers picked up their first loss in conference play this season, while the Royals extended their winning streak to 10.
After a high-scoring victory over Life Pacific in San Dimas on Thursday, Park-Gilbert struggled to get points on the board as they shot 32.7% from the field Saturday afternoon.
The Royals got off to a hot start in the first half, sinking 7 of 13 three-pointers and outscoring the Buccaneers 50-15 through 20 minutes of play.
Guards Tanner Pate and Toate Sika led Park-Gilbert in scoring with 9 points. Sika pulled down the most rebounds with six, and Pate led the team in assists with four.
The Buccaneers men’s basketball team returns to the floor this Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m. MST, when they host Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at Arizona Athletic Grounds.
