Gabe Oldham scores 28 points as Aztecs Men’s Basketball dominates the glass to beat Arizona Sol

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (17-0) played its final non-conference game of the regular season on Wednesday as it took on Arizona Sol at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.

The No. 6 ranked Aztecs produced six players in double figures and four with double-doubles in points and rebounds as they beat Arizona Sol 120-67 securing their 11th game scoring in triple figures.

Up 28-26, the Aztecs closed out the first half with a 29-4 run to take a 57-30 lead at the break. The Aztecs outscored Arizona Sol 63-37 in the second half.

Sophomore Gabe Oldham finished with a game-high 28 points as he went 13 for 17 from the field and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Sophomore Wes Ball (Marana HS) was the second Pima player with a double-double as he went for 18 points and 11 rebounds. He was 8 for 11 from the field.

Freshman Brock Mendoza came off the bench and scored 14 points to go with 10 boards as he finished 6 for 8 from the field. He also had four blocks. Fellow freshman Isaac Johnson was the fourth player with a double-double as he contributed with 12 points and 11 rebounds. He was 4 for 5 shooting and had four steals.

The Aztecs had 72 rebounds for the game; 22 on the offensive glass.

Sophomore Max Majerle (Arcadia HS) added 15 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals while freshman Brigg Wolfe (Mesa Mountain View HS) had 11 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.

The Aztecs get back to ACCAC conference play on Saturday when they take on Scottsdale Community College. Tipoff is at 4:00 p.m.
