Bucs Secure 79-76 Victory Over Providence With Second Half Comeback

(Chandler, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert men’s basketball team (3-7, 0-0) defeated the University of Providence Argos (4-6, 0-0) Monday evening at Chandler-Gilbert Community College by a score of 79-76.

Behind a pair of 11-point second half rallies from guards Latrell Jones and Toate Sika, the Buccaneers overcame a 10-point first-half deficit en route to a win in their final game at the 2024 Cactus Classic.

In the second half of play, Park-Gilbert shot an efficient 51.6% from the field in the second half while holding the Argos to 10-33 shooting.

Jones led the Bucs in scoring tonight with 24 points, shooting 9-11 from the field and 3-4 from three-point land. Playing all but four minutes, he also dished out six assists paired with four rebounds and three steals.

Sika played 35 minutes and recorded his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Junior forward Caleb Geisendorfer made key contributions off the bench with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Park-Gilbert’s 79 points was the highest point total reached this season since Nov. 19, in the team’s 111-58 victory over West Coast Baptist College.

The Bucs return to action this Friday, Dec. 20, when they host Briar Cliff University (Iowa) at The PHHacility in Phoenix, Arizona.
