The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (9-2) avenged their first loss of the season on Saturday after defeating Arizona Western College (8-2-1) at Kino North Stadium.
Freshman Ricky Gordillo (Maya HS) scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute to carry the No. 5 ranked Aztecs past the Matadors 2-1. Sophomore Abraham Espinoza (Saguaro HS) had the assist.
The Aztecs got on the board in the 12th minute with sophomore Hugo Kametani scored with an assist from Itsuki Ishihara to put Pima up 1-0. The Matadors tied the game in the 50th minute.
Freshman Nils Roth finished the game with two saves.
The Aztecs lost to Arizona Western 1-0 in overtime in the first game of the season last month.
The Aztecs will hit the road on Tuesday when they play at Chandler-Gilbert Community College at 4:30 p.m.
