(Coolidge, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (6-1) stepped away from ACCAC Division II play for a game at Central Arizona College (4-3) on Tuesday.
The No. 10 ranked Aztecs (ACCAC Division II) defeated the Vaqueras (ACCAC Division I) 76-58 as Pima earned their fourth straight win.
The Aztecs outscored the Vaqueras 21-9 in the third quarter to take a 54-40 lead. The Aztecs led 33-31 at halftime.
Sophomore Rori Hoffmeyer (Cibola HS) scored a team-high 19 points as she went 7 for 14 from the field. She fell short of a double-double with nine rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.
Freshman Melicia Nelson (Window Rock HS) came up short on a triple-double as she finished the game with 16 points on 4 for 7 shooting with 11 rebounds, seven assists and two steals. She was 2 for 3 from beyond the arc.
Freshman Kiley Sours-Miller was a rebound short of a double-double after going for 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
Freshman Kennedi Niemann also scored in double figures with 10 points to go with three rebounds, three assists and three steals. She was also 2 for 3 from downtown.
Sophomore Mattanaya Vital (Amphitheater HS) added eight points and three assists.
The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Wednesday, Dec. 4 when they host South Mountain Community College in ACCAC conference play. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
