(Glendale, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (11-2) earned its fifth straight win on Saturday after a big victory on the road at Glendale Community College (7-6).

The No. 8 ranked Aztecs scored the first two goals of the game and held off a rally in their 2-1 win over the Gauchos. The Aztecs have outscored their opponents 24-1 in the five-game stretch. The Aztecs swept the two regular season meetings as they beat Glendale 3-1 at the West Campus Aztec Field on Sept. 14.

Sophomore Lizzie Walker (Canyon del Oro HS) put Pima on the scoreboard in the 18th minute as she got an assist from sophomore Alexis Carranza (Salpointe Catholic HS) to make it 1-0.

Sophomore Solaris Graves’ (Ironwood Ridge HS) goal proved to be a difference maker as she made it 2-0 with her shot seven minutes into the second half. Sophomore Uriah Burrell (Catalina Foothills HS) provided the assist.

The Gauchos cut the deficit back to one goal when Edith Delgado was credited with a goal in the 65th minute.

The Aztecs finished with eight shots on goal. Freshman Brooke Valencia (Sabino HS) finished the game with three saves.

The Aztecs will close out the regular season next Saturday, Oct. 26 when they host Phoenix College. The Aztecs suffered one of their two losses to the Bears in a 2-1 contest on Sept. 21 in Phoenix. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.

Pima goals: Lizzie Walker (Alexia Carranza) 18th minute; Solaris Graves (Uriah Burrell) 52nd minute.
