Reatta Danhof and Aztecs Women’s Cross Country take first place at Vaquero CAMPY Invitational

(Eloy, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s cross country team showcased its depth on Saturday at the Vaquero CAMPY Invitational held at Central Arizona College in Coolidge, AZ.

The No. 19 ranked Aztecs took first place in the final team standings with a score of 31 points. They beat out Central Arizona (36 points), the College of Southern Neveda (67 points) and Phoenix College (112 points).

Sophomore Reatta Danhof (Ironwood Ridge HS) picked up where she left off at the ACCAC Conference Championships, as she won her second straight race earning a collegiate personal-record in the 5K (3.1 miles), finishing with a time of 18 minutes, 48.0 seconds.

Freshman Karlee Pope set a new PR for herself as she crossed the finish line in sixth place with a time of 20:11.

Sophomore Linda Rivero (Desert View HS) was the third Aztec to set a personal-record as she placed seventh with a time of 20:22.

Sophomore Mariah Cruz (Mountain View Hs) took eighth place as she closed out the race at 20:29 and freshman Ella Allred (Benson HS) was in ninth place at 20:32.

The Aztecs will compete at the San Diego Invitational next Saturday, Oct. 12 hosted by San Diego College.
