Bucs Fall in Straight Sets to Life Pacific University

(San Dimas, CA)  The Park University Gilbert women’s volleyball team dropped its second consecutive conference match, losing 3-0 (24-26, 10-25, 22-25) to Life Pacific University at Mehl Coliseum this evening. The Bucs drop to 4-2 overall and 0-2 in GSAC play.

The first set saw the Bucs in control building up an 18-12 advantage before a 10-2 LPU run gave the Warriors a two-point lead. LPU had match points themselves at 24-22 before Park Gilbert managed to tie the score at 24-all. However, the Warriors won the next two points to take the set with a tight 26-24 win.

Set two saw the Bucs level drop after the disappointment of the first set and the Warriors rolled to a 25-10 win.

Park Gilbert managed to play better in the final set, but the Warriors built an eight-point cushion at 17-9 in the third stanza. While the Bucs outscored the Warriors 13-8 from that point in the set, the Bucs ran out points as the Warriors finished with a 25-22 third set triumph to take the final set.

The Bucs were outhit 48-31 in kills and .382-.182 in hitting percentage.

Mallory Turner provided the offense individually for the Bucs with 13 kills and hitting .370. Fellow middle blocker Chariyah Curry had four kills with no errors. Porsche Bauer added five kills and hit .308.

The Bucs conclude their road trip with another GSAC foe at Hope International tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
