Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College volleyball team (6-6, 3-1 in ACCAC) put up a fight but were unable to overthrow its third ranked team of the season.
The Aztecs volleyball team fell in four sets to No. 6 ranked Glendale Community College (10-0, 3-0) 25-20, 25-16, 20-25, 25-22 on Wednesday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
After dropping the first two sets, the Aztecs rallied from an early deficit in the third set with eight straight points and held the lead the rest of the game.
The Aztecs took a 21-20 advantage in the fourth set but the Gauchos scored five of the final six points to seal it.
Freshman Jade Romine (Canyon del Oro HS) led the way with 14 kills while fellow freshman Madi Nash (Sahuaro HS) had a double-double of 11 kills and 21 digs. Freshman Kaleigh Hockett (Desert Mountain HS) also produced a double-double of 29 assists and 13 digs.
The Aztecs will step away from ACCAC conference play and will host their Alumni Match on Friday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
