Buccaneers Men’s XC Places 3rd in Firestorm Classic

(Glendale, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert men’s cross-country team placed 3rd in the 2024 Firestorm Classic, Friday morning at Sahuaro Ranch Park in Glendale, Ariz.

Hosted by Arizona Christian University, this invitational started at 7:30 a.m. with the 6K Run. This event had over 30 runners from Park-Gilbert, ACU, Phoenix College, and more. Five of which, were Buccaneers Dylan Hukill, Damien Najara, Manuel Najara, Davin Soto and Brian Spark.

The first five runners to cross the finish line came from Arizona Christian, with Firestorm senior Trent Janssen placing first with a time of 19:36.2.

Bucs senior Davin Soto led the charge, coming in 8th place with a time of 20:29.0. The Najara brothers, senior Manuel and sophomore Damian, placed 21st and 29th with respective times of 22:49.5 and 28:10.6. Coming in 31st was sophomore Dylan Hukill with a time of 31.53.7, and freshman Brian Sparks finished 33rd with a time of 33:12.5.

The Buccaneers men’s cross-country team now shifts their focus to The Master’s XC invitational, held at Central Park in Santa Clarita, Calif. on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 8:00 a.m.
