(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College baseball player Diego Alvarez (Sahuarita HS) earned praise from the ACCAC conference for his pitching performance last week against previously No. 2 ranked Central Arizona College.
Alvarez, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, was named ACCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 7-13.
Alvarez pitched seven shutout innings, giving up six hits with four strikeouts and one walk in Pima’s 5-0 win over the Vaqueros last Tuesday at the West Campus Aztec Field.
Alvarez has pitched 48.0 innings in 11 appearances. He is 7-0 with a 3.56 ERA with 32 strikeouts and just eight walks.
The Aztecs will hit the road on Saturday when they play an ACCAC conference doubleheader at Cochise College. First game starts at noon.
