(Phoenix , AZ) The Pima Community College women’s track & field team competed at the ACCAC Conference Championships on Friday at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix.
The No. 3 ranked Aztecs finished in third place after going 3-2 in head-to-head competition. The Aztecs beat Glendale Community College (127-49), Paradise Valley Community College (146-27) and Phoenix College (151-12). They lost to Central Arizona College (99-91) and Mesa Community College (116-73).
Freshman Ja’Niya Ross (Desert Vista HS) took first place in the High Jump with a mark of 1.68 meters (5-feet, 6-inches). The Aztecs took the top four spots in the event. Freshman Bella Hofmann (Campo Verde HS) earned a national qualifying mark in the High Jump with a jump of 1.63 meters (5-4.25).
Sophomore Tianna Moseley claimed the ACCAC conference crown in the Triple Jump with a mark of 11.82 meters (38-9.50)
A pair of pole vaulters improved on their previously set national qualifying marks. Freshman Morgan Pepe (Ironwood Ridge HS) took second place and earned a personal-best mark of 3.50 meters (11-5.75). Her vault put her No. 3 in Pima school history as she improved on her previous mark set at 3.30 meters (10-10).
Freshman Brianne Roberts took third place in the Pole Vault with an improved national qualifying mark of 3.42 meters (11-2.50). Her previous qualifier was 3.20 meters (10-6).
The top two placements in each event earned All-ACCAC Conference honors.
First Team All-ACCAC:
Ja’Niya Ross – High Jump – 1.68 meters (5-feet, 6-inches).
Tianna Moseley – Triple Jump – 11.82 meters (38-9.50)
Second Team All-ACCAC:
April Necaise – High Jump – 1.63 meters (5-4.25).
Morgan Pepe – Pole Vault – 3.50 meters (11-5.75).
Bella Hofmann – Triple Jump – 11.63 meters (38-2).
The Aztecs will compete at the Triton Invitational on Friday and Saturday April 5-6 at the University of California, San Diego.
