(Corvallis, OR) No. 18 Sun Devil Gymnastics took second place in a dual meet at No. 17 Oregon State on Friday night, 197.400 to 196.625.
Notable Stats
Arizona State (6-5, 3-3 Pac-12) fell to Oregon State (9-4, 3-3 Pac-12). The Sun Devils led after the first rotation, but the Beavers took the lead in the second and didn’t look back.
ASU scored at least a 49.000 on all four events, making that six meets in a row doing so. The vault streak is up to 19 in a row with 49-plus, extending the program record. Additionally, the bars streak is up to 18 in a row, one away from the record of 19-straight.
Bars was the top-scoring event of the meet for the Gym Devils. There were two 9.900s, one from senior Jada Mangahas and one from senior Sarah Clark.
On floor, sophomores Kayla Lee and Kimberly Smith scored 9.875s, which is a season high for both of them on that event. For Lee, it matches her career high and for Smith, it is a new personal best.
Freshman Lilia Purler made her collegiate debut on vault, subbing in at the last minute. She scored a 9.750.
Rotation One: Bars, 49.300
Senior Cassi Barbanente got the rotation off to a solid start with a stuck landing and a 9.850. Mangahas matched her season high with a 9.900, which Clark matched in the anchor spot as well. Another solid score came from White, earning a 9.850.
Rotation Two: Vault, 49.000
The momentum dipped in the second rotation, allowing Oregon State to take the lead. The rotation high was a 9.875, which both freshman Halle Gregoire and Scharf scored. Purler was inserted into the lineup late and added a 9.750.
Rotation Three: Floor, 49.275
Sophomores Kayla Lee and Kimberly Smith both earned season highs on floor with a pair of 9.875s. Gregoire and Scharf added 9.850s. All six scores were at least a 9.800.
