(Glendale, AZ) The Park University Gilbert men’s basketball team dropped a 90-67 contest to Dordt University this afternoon at the ACU Events Center. The Bucs fall to 6-7 on the season after the loss.
The Bucs could not stop Defender guard Lucas Lorenzen who scored 43 points and pulled down 15 rebounds on the day. Lorenzen’s 43 points are the most scored by an opponent against the Buccaneers.
Dordt came into the game averaging 21 three-point attempts per game. The Defenders chucked 12 more than their normal average, getting 33 attempts on the Bucs, making 13.
Overall, there wasn’t a large difference in shooting percentages as Dordt shot 45 percent and Park shot 41. But Dordt was able to grab 14 offensive rebounds and turn those into 18 second chance points. Dordt also won the battle in the paint outscoring the Bucs 32-20. Dordt also took care of the ball with only four turnovers for the game. Park had 10 turnovers and Dordt turned it into 19 points.
Offensively for the Bucs, Caleb Ivy led the team in scoring for the second consecutive game, posting 19 points and pulling down five rebounds. DJ Frye was the only other Buccaneer in double digits, coming off the bench to score 10 points with six rebounds. Evan Hoosier led the team with nine rebounds and LC Ballard had four assists.
Park Gilbert’s week is not done, as they travel to Ogden, Utah to face NCAA Division I Weber State on Thursday, December 21. This is an exhibition game which will not count towards the Bucs records or stats.
