(Tucson, AZ) The Tucson Sugar Skulls boosted their defensive line, adding three linemen to the mix: Sterling Johnson, Lamonte McDougle, and Arthur Randall.
Sterling Johnson enters his rookie season for the Sugar Skulls in the 2024 IFL Season.
In 2020, Johnson signed a free-agent deal with the New York Jets.
Prior to that, Johnson spent his collegiate career at Coastal Carolina, where he was honored as a member of the 2019 Phil Steele Sun Belt Conference All-Conference third team.
In 11 games, Johnson tallied 41 tackles, 10.0 tackles-for-loss, and 3.5 sacks on the year. His 10.0 tackles-for-loss were tied for ninth overall in the Sun Belt. Johnson’s 3.5 sacks on the year ranked 19th overall in the league. He had eight quarterback hurries, two pass breakups, and blocked a field goal on the season.
Lamonte McDougle joins the Sugar Skulls for his rookie season in the IFL in 2024.
McDougle started his collegiate career at West Virginia where he made an impact as a freshman, recording 23 tackles, 2 sacks, and one forced fumble and fumble recovery.
He then transferred to Washington State where played for one season before he finished his career at UTSA in Texas.
As a member of the UTSA Roadrunners, he appeared in 24 games over two seasons. In those contests, he amassed 31 tackles to go with half a sack and 2.5 tackles for loss.
His hometown is in Pompano Beach, Florida and he played high school football at Deerfield Beach HS.
Arthur Randall III joins the Tucson Sugar Skulls for the 2024 IFL season.
This will be his third stint in the IFL. In 2023, Randall suited up in 2 games for the Arizona Rattlers, recording 4 tackles and one tackle for loss in those two contests. Randall also appeared in a game for the Sioux Falls Storm in 2022.
He tallied four tackles (one for loss) in his lone game against the Frisco Fighters last season for the Storm. Randall played collegiately at North Carolina Central University for two seasons after initially committing to Mississippi Valley State out of high school.
Arthur attended Pamlico County High School where he played high school football in North Carolina. His hometown is in Oriental, N.C.
