(Gilbert, AZ) Park University Gilbert women’s soccer forward Emma Alvarez was tabbed as the California Pacific Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 28-Sept. 2. The conference announced the winners at 5 p.m. today, September 4, 2023.
Alvarez is off to a torrid start to her Buccaneers career, scoring four goals in the Bucs first four games. This past week, with the Bucs trailing Arizona Christian 2-0, Alvarez put the team on her back and netted two second half goals to tie the score at 2-2.
Alvarez, a junior transfer from Yavapai College in Prescott, Ariz., is only the second Buccaneer to win the award and the first offensive player of the week.
Alvarez’s four goals already ties the school record for goals in a season set last year by four different players. The Prescott Valley, Ari., native also leads the squad in points (8), shots (9) and shots on goal (7).
The Buccaneers begin conference play this week as they travel to take on Soka University on Thursday, September 7 and Westcliff on Saturday, September 9.
