(Oklahoma City, OK) For the second consecutive year, Yanni Acuña has been voted to the NFCA All-America Second Team as the organization released its recipients this afternoon. Acuña is the 11th player in program history to earn multiple All-America honors after also being named to the second team last season.
With this selection, Arizona State has now had 44 All-Americans in the history of the program. It’s the fifth consecutive season a Sun Devil has been recognized.
Acuña ended the season batting .400 while leading the team with 54 hits and 17 multi-hit games. She reached base in 44 of the 48 games this and led the Pac-12 with a .523 on-base percentage. While ranking second in the Pac-12 in batting average, Acuña sits third with her .719 slugging percentage.
Acuña climbed up the career leaderboards at ASU despite just two seasons as a full-time starter. She ranks in the program’s top 20 in eight statistical categories, including third in on-base percentage (.492) and fourth in slugging (.700). Her 154 career runs scored are seventh-most at ASU, and Acuña ranks eighth in doubles (44) and 10th with a .363 career batting average.
In total, fifty-five student-athletes from 33 different institutions were voted to one of three 2023 teams.
