ASU has now had 111 All-Region selections in the program’s history

(Louisville, KY)  Yanni Acuña and Jordyn VanHook from Sun Devil Softball were honored with selections to the NFCA All-West Region teams as the NFCA announced the honors Thursday morning.

Acuña was named to the first team for a second consecutive season. She becomes the 13th Sun Devil – and fourth outfielder – to be named to the first team multiple times and the 11th to do so in consecutive seasons.

VanHook received her first All-West Region selection by being named to the third team. She is just the sixth first baseman in program history to make an All-Region team.

Since the NFCA began naming annual All-Region teams in 1987, Arizona State has had 65 different players named to one of the teams, with the group receiving 111 selections. That includes 53 first team honors from 33 different players. ASU has had a first team selection in 16 of the past 17 seasons the awards have been announced (no awards we given in 2020).

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated student-athletes (eight maximum) and voted for the teams.

All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2023 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
