(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College women’s basketball players Luisa Chavez (Rio Rico HS), Torrance Begay (Page HS) and Angel Addleman (Palo Verde HS) earned ACCAC conference and NJCAA Region I honors.
Chavez, a sophomore guard, earned her third selection to the All-ACCAC and All-Region teams as she was named second team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II. She was chosen third team All-ACCAC in 2020 and 2021.
Chavez played and started in all 30 games this season as she averaged 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals. She shot 35.3 percent from the field, 30 percent from three-point range and 80.6 percent from the free throw line.
Begay, a sophomore forward, was named third team All-ACCAC and second team All-Region I, Division II. She played in all 30 games and made 27 starts. Begay averaged 10.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game as she shot 41 percent from the field, 33.6 percent from beyond the arc and 76.9 percent from the free throw stripe.
Addleman earned her second straight selection as she was announced third team All-ACCAC and second team All-Region I, Division II. Addleman bounced back from an injury that occurred last season to play in 25 games; making 23 starts. She averaged 9.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.7 steals. She shot 42.1 percent from the field and 87.2 percent from the foul line.
The No. 1 seeded Aztecs will host No. 4 Chandler-Gilbert Community College in the NJCAA Region I, Division II Semifinal on Wednesday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
