(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s track & field team competed at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships on Friday and Saturday at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.
The women’s team finished with eight team points and tied for 20th place in the final team standings.
Sophomore Jackie Trice (Williams Field HS) secured six of eight points for the Aztecs as she earned NJCAA All-American status in two events. She took sixth place in the Pentathlon with 3328 points earning three points. She set personal-records in the Long Jump (5.82 meters, 19-feet, 1.25-inches) and the 800-meter (2 minutes, 32.18 seconds) events.
Trice wasn’t finished as she also claimed another three points after a sixth-place finish in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.71 meters (18-9).
Sophomore Candice Pocase (Santa Rita HS) earned two points for Pima after she finished seventh in the Pole Vault with a mark of 2.85 meters (9-feet, 4.25-inches).
The Aztecs will open Outdoor Season on Thursday March 16 as they will compete in the Distance in the Dark held at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix and Mesa Multi’s Meet at Mesa Community College.
