The Sun Devils used a 16-4 scoring stretch that circumvented halftime to pull away from San Diego after the Toreros had fought off a seven point disadvantage in the first half. ASU then went on a 18-2 stretch that finished with less than five minutes to play in regulation, moving ahead by 20 in the process and snapping any hopes of a San Diego comeback.
The five men in double figures marked the first time since Nov. 14, 2019 that five Sun Devils had at least 10 points. Frankie Collins (12 points, 11 assists) and Devan Cambridge(13 points, 11 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles, the second and third of ASU’s season. It is the first time Arizona State had two double-doubles in the same game since Dec. 19, 2021 vs. San Francisco.

San Diego State went on an 11-0 over 3:07 from 12:08-9:01 to erase their deficit and take the lead.
Desmond Cambridge Jr. outscored San Diego 8-2 in 2:18 from 9:01-6:43, giving ASU the lead back.
The Sun Devils scored the last four points of the first half including a last second layup by Frankie Collins.
Arizona State opened the second half on a 12-4 scoring stretch in the first 3:08, extending their lead to 15, 53-38.
The Sun Devils went on a 14-2 scoring stretch that went over 3:10 from 8:18 to 5:08 capped by a Desmond Cambridge Jr. three. They scored the next four points as well, ending with an 18-2 scoring stretch.

Arizona State won their nine straight game, tied for the fourth highest winning streak in the country.
Scoring by committee: the Sun Devils had five players in double-figure scoring – Desmond Cambridge Jr. (23), Warren Washington (18), Devan Cambridge (13), Frankie Collins (12) and DJ Horne (10) – for the first time since Nov. 14, 2019 in a win over Central Connecticut State.
Arizona State has had three players – Desmond Cambridge Jr., Frankie Collins and DJ Horne – score at least 20 points twice. Arizona State is one of only two schools in the Pac-12 to have three guys score at least 20 points in a game this season (Arizona).
The 91 points were the most for ASU this season.
The 14 three-point baskets were also the most by the Sun Devils this season (11). It is the fourth time in 12 games the Sun Devils have had at least 10 makes from beyond the arch.
Arizona State has won its first six games in the friendly confines of Desert Financial Arena by an average of 16.6 this season.
Through 12 games this season, opposing guards are shooting 135-430 (31.4%) from the field against the ASU defense. Opposing guards are also averaging 7.8 turnovers per game.
Frankie Collins earned the second Sun Devil double-double of the season with his 13 points and 11 assists. It was his first career double-double.
His 11 assists are the most by a Sun Devil since Jan. 24, 2019. He has led or tied the ASU lead in assists in all 11 games he’s played and the mark was a game, season and career high.
ASU had 21 assists on 31 made shots, good for a 68% A/FGM ratio. It is the sixth time in the last seven games that the Sun Devils have had at least a 60% A/FGM ratio.
Devan Cambridge followed it up not long after with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
It is the first time since Dec. 19, 2021 at San Francisco that two Sun Devils had double-doubles in the same game (Kimani Lawrence and Jay Heath).
He has been extremely effective shooting the rock as of late. In his last eight games, he is 37-53 (70%) from the floor.
Desmond Cambridge Jr.’s 18 first half points are the most by a Sun Devil in a half this season. He had 13 in the second half against Creighton.
He was also the second fastest Sun Devil to 20 points in a game this season, hitting the mark with 15:27 on the clock. (DJ Horne/NAU/17:45).
Warren Washington smacked away five blocks, the most by a Sun Devil this season.
Arizona State has won the rebounding battle in four consecutive contests and eight of their 12 games. Warren Washington is averaging 7.2 boards per game and has led or tied for the Sun Devil rebounding lead in eight straight games.
That mark has not been achieved in six of seven games since the 2010-11 season.
The Sun Devils have scored 352 of their 885 points inside the painted area. That’s 40% of ASU’s points coming from inside.
Arizona State entered today’s slate of games ranked 25th in the NET, the NCAA’s own ranking metric and one of the primary statistics used by the Division selection committee. ASU has jumped 10-spots from the statistics’ reveal on December 5, the third best increase of the six Pac-12 teams ranked inside the top 90 through games on Dec. 17.
San Diego was held to a season low in points (67) and assists (8).
After tonight, Arizona State has scored more fast-break points than opponents in nine out of 12 games, and the last three in a row.
Warren Washington is 6-0 in tip-offs at Desert Financial Arena this season.
The Sun Devils are now 3-0 in the series against the Toreros.
FIRST HALF
Warren Washington opened the scoring on an alley-oop slam from DJ Horne with 19:10 left in the first half. Washington then stuck his hand in the cookie jar for a steal and turned it into a Desmond Cambridge Jr. triple, his first of the night, with 18:40 on the clock, moving the lead to 5-0.
Devan Cambridge drilled a trey from the top of the key, forced a foul and made the foul shot for the first four point play of the season, extending the Sun Devil lead to eight, 11-3 at 15:48 out of the first media timeout.
Austin Nunez saw early action after a stellar performance against Creighton and cashed in his first shot, a three with 13:26 left, extending the lead to seven, 17-10.
The Toreros went on an 11-0 run over 3:07 before Desmond Cambridge Jr. picked up his seventh and eighth points of the night from the charity stripe to tie the contest. He then banged in a triple with 8:00 to put ASU back ahead by three.
He continued to stay in rhythm, knocking down a one dribble pull-up with 6:58 on the clock. Cambridge Jr. immediately forced a steal and dropped in a layup at 6:43 to bring himself up to 15 points.
He did more than just score, finding Washington a find and dunk to put ASU ahead by seven, 30-23 at 5:55. Arizona State had made four of its last five shots.
ASU’s resident assist man Frankie Collins found Washington on a nifty move under the hoop for a slam with 2:34 left. Following a San Diego bucket, Desmond Cambridge Jr. drilled a trey with 1:42 on the clock to put ASU ahead by six.
Collins closed the stanza on a smooth hesitation move to the rim with less than three seconds left, putting the Sun Devils ahead by seven into the break.
SECOND HALF
Horne knocked in a corner triple with 19:48 from Collins to open the second half scoring, extending the lead to 10, in double digits for the first time.
Washignton threw down an aggressive slam with 18:08 to play on a find from Collins, his second dime of the half. Colins can do more than just pass, hitting a three from the left corner with 16:52 left in regulation, this time on a find from Washington.
Desmond Cambridge Jr. scored his 20th point with 15:27 left in the second half, putting ASU ahead by 15, 58-43. He was the second fastest Sun Devil to 20 in a game this season and ASU is now the second team in the Pac-12 to have two players score at least 20 in a game on multiple occasions.
Soaring through the air, Devan Cambridge found Frankie Collins for a high-flying alley-oop slam with 10:30 to go in regulation, pushing the Sun Devil lead back to 10, 53-43.
Collins picked up his ninth assist on an alley-oop jam to Washington and on the next possession, found Desmond Cambridge Jr. for a three pointer with 5:14 to play. The dime was his 10th of the game, good for his first career double-double. It was a 10-0 Sun Devil run over 1:34 and forced a Toreros timeout. ASU extended their lead to 20, 79-59.
The Sun Devils closed out the win, 91-67.
