(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (9-1) picked up a win in non-conference play on Tuesday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
The No. 18 ranked Aztecs defeated Taylor Made Prep 143-64.
Up 24-23, the Aztecs went on a 19-0 run to make it 43-23. The Aztecs led 67-31 at halftime and outscored Taylor Made Prep 76-33 in the second half.
Freshman Yahir Garcia (Tucson Magnet HS) scored a game and career-high 31 points off the bench as he went 11 for 15 from the field and 7 for 10 from three-point range.
Sophomore Pablo Gutierrez (Sabino HS) went 6 for 10 from the field and scored 17 points.
Freshmen Jaylen Alexander, Mike Pope and Jamison Kay (Gila Ridge HS) each scored 14 points. Kay finished with a double-double as he added 11 rebounds.
Sophomore Traivar Jackson finished with 12 points while freshman Zach Williamson contributed with 11 points and fellow freshman Khamani Steckler posted 10 points.
The Aztecs are off for winter break and will return to host the Aztec Holiday Classic from Dec. 29-31 at the West Campus Aztec Gym. The Aztecs will play Eastern Wyoming College on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 2:00 p.m.
