(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s golf team closed out its third tournament of the season on Tuesday at the Eastern Arizona College Invitational.
The Aztecs finished in fifth place in the final team standings with an overall score of 597 (296-301). South Mountain Community College took first place (577) while the Aztecs were just 11-strokes behind Paradise Valley Community College (586) for second place. Pima was 7-strokes behind Glendale Community College (590) for third and 2-strokes from Mesa Community College for fourth.
Freshman Max Krueger (Salpointe Catholic HS) earned second place in the individual standings for the second straight tournament finishing with a 3-under par 141. He shot a 1-under par 71 in Monday’s round and concluded the final round with a 2-under par 70. He finished 1-stroke behind Mesa’s Warner Beach, who was the individual winner with a 140 (67-73).
Freshman Jay Shero shot a two-day total of 151 (73-78) as he tied for 18th place in the standings.
Freshman Daniel Henely (Cienega HS) closed out the tournament tied for 21st with a 152 (74-78) and freshman Caleb Knight tied for 26th with a 157 (78-79).
The Aztecs will compete in the Glendale CC Invitational on Mar. 20-21 at the Corte Bella Golf Club in Sun City West, AZ. Teams begin to tee off at noon.
