(Mesa, AZ) The Pima Community College baseball team (7-2) suffered its first defeat of the season on Saturday at the Zinger Classic.
Game 1: South Mountain CC Cougars 4, Pima CC Aztecs 2
The Aztecs were shut out on offense as they managed one hit in eight innings.
The Aztecs put together a rally in the 9th. With the bases loaded and two outs, freshman Trent Kiraly hit a 2-run RBI single driving in freshman Andrew Stucky (Canyon del Oro HS) and sophomore Preston Clifford (Sabino HS). Sophomore Fernando Loera struck out to end the game.
The Aztecs finished with three hits for the game. Clifford went 2 for 3 with a run scored and Kiraly was 1 for 1 with two RBIs.
Sophomore Bradon Zastrow (0-1) took the loss (0-1) as he pitched six innings giving up four runs (three earned) with five strikeouts and one walk.

Game 2: Salt Lake CC Bruins 9, Pima CC Aztecs 0
The Aztecs had eight hits for the game but the Bruins offense got to the Pima pitchers with three runs in the 1st, one in the 2ndand four runs in the 3rd inning.
Freshman Gage Mestas hit two doubles and finished 2 for 3 at the plate. Kiraly and Stucky each went 1 for 3. The Aztecs left nine runners on base.
Freshman Aiden May took the loss (1-1) as he pitched two and one-third innings giving up seven runs (six earned) on four hits with two strikeouts and seven walks.
