(Glendale, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s cross country team displayed a strong showing at the ACU Invitational on Saturday in Glendale.
The Aztecs finished in second place in the team standings out of six teams with a score of 49 points. The host, Arizona Christian University took first with 24 points. The Aztecs beat out Mesa Community College, who took third with 81 points and Phoenix College, who placed fifth with 126.
Freshman Brendan Torres (Empire HS) finished in second place among the team competitors (third overall) with a time of 27 minutes, 20.7 seconds. He was the top ACCAC competitor of the race.
Freshman Emmanuel Corral (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) closed out the race in fourth place with a time of 27:39.6. Freshman Chalen Lozano (Marana HS) finished 11th with a time of 28:50.1.
Freshman Collins Maiyo crossed the finish line in 14th place with a time of 29:02.3 while sophomore Zach Zobak took 18th place at 29:33.4.
The Aztecs will compete in the NJCAA Region I Championships on Friday at the Glendale Heroes Regional Park in Glendale.
