(Phoenix, AZ) The Arizona Rattlers are proud to announce their return to Downtown Phoenix for the 2021 Indoor Football League season, in conjunction with the IFL’s revised regular season schedule.
The Rattlers will play their 2021 home games at the newly-renovated, state-of-the-art Phoenix Suns Arena (formerly Talking Stick Resort Arena) in Downtown Phoenix.
Phoenix Suns Arena’s $230 million renovation is currently more than 80 percent complete, due to an expedited construction timeline.
Beginning in February, the arena began allowing fan entry to Phoenix Suns games at an allotment of 1,500 fans per game, which has since increased to 3,000 fans per game.
The facility will continue to reassess its maximum capacity as the IFL’s revised 2021 Kickoff Weekend draws closer.
The Arizona Rattlers’ season opener is now set to take place on Sunday, May 16 at 3:05 p.m. against the Northern Arizona Wranglers in Prescott Valley. Arizona will open the season with five of its first seven games on the road, including the first three games of the season.
The Rattlers will then return to Phoenix on Saturday, June 12 at 6:05 p.m., when they host the Tucson Sugar Skulls for their home opener in the first of two home meetings with the team. The Sugar Skulls will also visit Phoenix on Saturday, August 7 at 6:05 p.m.
On Saturday, July 24 at 6:05 p.m., the Rattlers will host the Sioux Falls Storm in a rematch of both the 2017 and 2019 United Bowls. The Rattlers will also visit Sioux Falls on Saturday, May 22 for their second game of the season.
Six teams will make their IFL debuts in 2021, five of which will appear on the Rattlers’ 2021 schedule. In addition to visiting the Massachusetts Pirates, the Rattlers will have home-and-home series with the Spokane Shock, Duke City Gladiators and Northern Arizona Wranglers.
The Rattlers’ 2021 will also host the first-year Frisco Fighters in their regular season finale on Saturday, August 21 at 6:05 p.m. Four of the Rattlers’ final five games of the season will take place at home.
