(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s golf team closed out play at the Mesa Invitational on Tuesday.
Sophomore Connor Wierman (Ironwood Ridge HS) posted the best two-day total for the Aztecs as he finished in 16th place in the individual standings. He shot a 1-over par 73 in his second round and shot an overall score of 149 (76-73).
Freshman Andrew Rivas (Canyon del Oro HS) shot an even-par 72 in the first round but struggled in the second round finishing with a 153 (72-81) and was 24th in the final standings. Sophomore Jackson Williams (Ironwood Ridge HS) shot a 193 (96-97).
Coach’s Quote: “Overall we have to learn how to finish a tournament when we have the momentum. I’m disappointed in the scores especially since I know the talent and skill set we have,” Pima golf coach Marcus Smith said. “It’s a process and everyone understands that. We know we can do better.”
The Aztecs will play in the Scottsdale Invitational on March 1-2 at the Hillcrest Golf Club in Sun City.
