(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team added another decorated high school player to its 2020 recruiting class.
The Aztecs signed Emily Valenzuela, a three-time state champion and four-year varsity player from Salpointe Catholic High School back in January.
Valenzuela, along with Salpointe and future Pima teammate, Angelina Amparano, helped the Lancers claim 4A State Championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Coach’s Quote: “With three of our four starting back line graduating, Emily will bring experience, intelligence and mental toughness to our young back line next season,” Pima women’s soccer coach Kendra Veliz said. “She has played both outside and central defenders. She has big shoes to fill but I am confident in her abilities.”
Valenzuela was named first team 4A Girls Soccer All-Star by AllSportsTucson this season. She started in all 22 games and scored two goals.
