(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team signed Kelli Samorano from Tucson Magnet High School back in November.
Samorano, a catcher/utility player, was a four-year varsity player for the Badgers and helped them advance to the 6A State Tournament in her first three years.
Player’s Quote: “I’ve been waiting my whole life to play college ball and I’m beyond blessed that Pima is able to provide me with that opportunity. Go Aztecs,” Samorano said.
In her first three years with Badgers, she batted .388 with 87 hits, 76 RBIs and 39 runs scored.
Coach’s Quote: “Kelli is another standout from Tucson High that we recruited very hard because of her athleticism and versatility. She will contribute heavily behind the plate with current catchers Mariah Bartlett and Giselle Munoz,” Pima softball head coach Rebekah Quiroz said. “Kelli will also contribute in the outfield and brings an absolute cannon of an arm.
“She’s a very smart player on and off the field so I know she will be extremely beneficial with our entire pitching staff. I expect Kelli to come in and compete immediately and I’m excited to see her perform offensively,” Quiroz added. “Kelli comes from a great family with an abundance of community support. We are thrilled to finally have her signed.”
Samorano’s cousin Arceli Peralta played for the Aztecs from 2014-2016 and was named All-ACCAC Conference. Her brother, Luis, pitched for the baseball team.
