Bucs Track & Field set numerous personal records at Mesa Invitational

(Mesa, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert men’s and women’s track teams competed at the Mesa Community College Invitational as a last tune up ahead of the California Pacific Conference Championships next weekend.

The Bucs set numerous personal records (PR) and season best marks on the afternoon.

The 4×100 relay team of Bridger Megeath, Issac Young, LC Ballard and Dylan Hukill finished in third place in their race by setting a season best time of 42.63 which is the 57th-best time in the NAIA this season.

Owen Olney, who is attempting to make a return trip to the NAIA Championships, put himself in a great position tying for the top high jump at the meet at 6 feet-7 ½ inches which is tied for the 19th best high jump in the NAIA this season. On the ladies side, Mallory Turner finished third in the high jump with a height of 5 feet-2 ¼ inches.

Issac Young set a PR in the 100 meters at 11.57, Nardia Padilla set a PR in the women’s 100 meters with a time of 12.82. She finished 11th. Jaylen Granberry set a PR in the 200 meters with a time of 25.30 as did Jaiden Canady and Maryan Sharif in the women’s 200 meters with times of 27.74 and 28.85, respectively.

Sharif (2:21.77) and Madison Turner (2:31.91) set PR’s in the 800 meters and Manuel Najera (1:57.66) also set a PR in the men’s 800 meters.

Nicholas Fay set a PR in the Shot Put with a distance of 33 feet- 4 ½ inches.

Up next for the Bucs is the California Pacific Conference Track and Field Championships at SOKA University in Aliso Viejo, California.
