(Colorado Springs, CO) USA Hockey announced roster additions for the 2025 U.S. Men’s National Team, featuring Arizona State ice hockey alumni Joey Daccord (’16–’19) and Josh Doan (’21–’23). The duo will represent Team USA at the 2025 IIHF Men’s World Championship, May 9–26 in Herning, Denmark, and Stockholm, Sweden.
Arizona State is tied for the second-most alumni on Team USA’s roster, joining Boston College and the University of Michigan with two representatives each. Only Minnesota and Boston University have more, with three players apiece. Among National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) schools, only Western Michigan joins ASU with a representative: goaltender Hampton Slukynsky.
It marks the first time Daccord and Doan will compete together on the same team, despite their decorated Sun Devil careers.
Daccord, a foundational figure in ASU’s NCAA era, played from 2016–19 before signing an NHL contract with the Ottawa Senators after leading ASU to its first NCAA Tournament appearance. He still holds multiple program records, including most career shutouts, wins, and overall record. The Massachusetts native recently completed his fourth season with the NHL’s Seattle Kraken.
Doan, skated in the maroon and gold from 2021-23, ushering in the Mullett Arena era. The Scottsdale native scored the first goal in Mullett Arena and was named team MVP after the 2022–23 season. In 2021–22, he set ASU’s freshman scoring record (37 points) and was named the program’s eighth captain the following year.
Team USA will compete against host Denmark, along with Czechia, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Norway, and Switzerland in Group B in the preliminary round at Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning. Group A, which will play its preliminary round games at Globe Arena in Stockholm, is comprised of host Sweden, along with Austria, Canada, Finland, France, Latvia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
“We really like our team,” said Jeff Kealty (Framingham, Mass.), general manager of the 2025 U.S. Men’s National Team and assistant general manager of the NHL’s Nashville Predators. “We have a group with significant international experience and I know our players are excited about representing our country on the world stage and competing for a gold medal.”
The U.S. roster currently stands at 23 players and can be viewed here.
