Senior pitcher a unanimous selection to All-Big 12 First Team
(Oklahoma City, OK) Sun Devil Softball had four players recognized by the Big 12 on Wednesday as the league announced its 2025 award winners and All-Big 12 selections. Kenzie Brown was named to the All-Big 12 First Team as a unanimous selection.
In addition, Tiare Ho-Ching, Ashleigh Mejia, and Tanya Windle were selected to the All-Big 12 Second Team. Ho-Ching and Mejia were also named to the Big 12 Freshmen Team.
Brown, a senior from Lake City, Ill., leads the all Power 4 pitchers with 252 strikeouts and by averaging 11.7 strikeouts per seven innings. She ranks in the top five in 11 statistical categories, including second by allowing 4.18 hits per seven innings, third with a 1.30 ERA, and fourth with 18 wins. Brown’s strikeout total is the 10th-most for a season in ASU history and she has double digit strikeouts in a game 10 times.
Brown is the first Sun Devil pitcher to be named first team all-conference since 2022. She becomes the 59th first team honoree in program history.
Ho-Ching completed her freshman regular season third in the team with a .354 batting average and second with 56 hits. She closed with a hit in 18 of the final 22 games while recording 12 multi-hit games. Ho-Ching put together a pair of eight-game hitting streaks during the season and she enters the postseason having reached base in 21 consecutive games.
Mejia capped the regular season leading the club with 13 home runs and second with 44 RBIs. Her 13 homers are fifth-most by a freshman in program history and second-most by a freshman in the Big 12 this season. Seven of her home runs have tied the game or give ASU the lead. Mejia enters the postseason with an RBI in 10 of the last 13 games and 11 multi-RBI game for the season.
Windle recorded 60 hits and a .373 batting average to lead the team in both categories during the regular season. She also led the team with 13 doubles and three triples, ranking third in the Big 12 in doubles and seventh in hits. Windle has 17 multi-hit games with four games with three-plus hits.
