(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team was well represented on the All-ACCAC Conference Division II and All-Region I, Division II teams for their contributions to regular season play.
Freshman Arianna Flores was named ACCAC Division II Co-Pitcher of the Year along with Phoenix College’s Yasmine Bernal. Flores was also named First Team All-ACCAC Division II and All-Region I, Division II (Battery). She went 18-3 in 25 appearances with a 2.06 ERA (leading ACCAC Division II) and pitched 10 complete games. She threw 112.1 innings with 168 strikeouts.
Freshman Jiselle Nunez (Tucson Magnet HS) was selected First Team All-ACCAC Division II and All-Region I, Division II (Infield). She led the Aztecs in batting average (.541), hits (86), home runs (20), and RBIs (92) in 51 games played. She had 159 at-bats, 58 runs scored, 24 walks and 21 doubles. Nunez posted a .928 fielding percentage with 55 putouts.
Sophomore Natalya Rivera (Sunnyside HS) earned First Team All-ACCAC and All-Region I, Division II (Infield). She batted .420 with 76 hits, 65 runs, 60 RBIs, 23 doubles, 16 home runs, 11 walks, seven stolen bases and four triples in 54 games played. Rivera also had 181 at-bats. She posted a .948 fielding percentage with 70 putouts.
Sophomore Talia Martin (Mountain View HS) was named First Team All-ACCAC and All-Region I, Division II. She batted .433 with 74 hits in 171 at-bats with team-highs in runs (70), walks (39) and stolen bases (16). She also had 43 RBIs, 23 doubles, five home runs and four triples in 53 games played. Martin had a .946 fielding percentage with 117 putouts.
Sophomore Jessica Thompson (Tanque Verde HS) was selected Second Team All-ACCAC and All-Region I, Division II (Battery). She went a flawless 12-0 in 19 appearances in the circle with a 3.25 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 84.0 innings. She pitched seven complete games.
Sophomore Aubrey Marx (Cienega HS) earned Second Team All-ACCAC and All-Region I, Division II honors (Outfield). She batted .427 with 76 hits in 178 at-bats. She finished with 58 runs, 41 RBIs, 16 doubles and eight walks in 54 games played. Marx posted a .912 fielding percentage with 49 putouts.
Sophomore Alyssa Noriega (Pueblo HS) was named Second Team All-ACCAC and All-Region I, Division II (Utility). She batted .406 with 63 hits in 155 at-bats during the regular season. She finished with 45 RBIs, 39 runs, 18 walks and 12 doubles in 48 games played. Noriega had an .824 fielding percentage with 10 putouts.
Freshman Belen Camacho (Pueblo HS) was selected Third Team All-ACCAC (Battery). Camacho went 8-4 in 17 appearances in the circle with a 3.58 ERA in 60.2 innings pitched with 72 strikeouts. She batted .420 in 50 at-bats with 29 RBIs, 21 hits, 16 runs, eight doubles, four walks and three home runs. Camacho had a .966 fielding percentage with 19 putouts.
The No. 2 seeded Aztecs will open the Region I, Division II Tournament on Thursday when they face off against No. 3 seeded South Mountain Community College. Game time is set for 10:00 a.m. with all games in the double elimination tournament being played at Phoenix College.
