(Aliso Viejo, CA) The Park University women’s track and field team placed third in the 2025 Great Southwest Athletic Conference Championships, Friday afternoon at the Soka University of California in Aliso Viejo, Calif.
The Buccaneers, in their first season as members of the GSAC, finished in the top three with a score of 80 points. Arizona Christian won the final day and the meet with a score of 282 points, and The Master’s finished as the runner-up with 230 points.
Park-Gilbert took home two final events Friday afternoon: the 100-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash. Mallory Turner won the 100-meter hurdles finishing above four other runners with a time of 15.59 seconds. Nardia Padilla placed first out of five runners in the 200-meter dash clocking in at 26.45 seconds.
The day started with field events, and the lone participant for Park-Gilbert was Turner in the high jump; she placed second out of six athletes with 1.41 meters.
Onto the track events for the Bucs, starting with the 4 x 100-meter relay consisting of Padilla, Johanna Jessop, Abri McCaster, Yadira Bernal, Bekah Sipinga, and Marisa Randall. They placed third with a time of 52.81 seconds.
Maryan Sharif held down the long-distance events for Park-Gilbert Friday afternoon, the 800-meter dash and the 1500-meter dash. She placed fifth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:23.37, and placed sixth in the 1500-meter with a time of 5:03.21.
The Bucs had another solid showing in the 100-meter dash from Padilla and McCaster, as they placed second and third respectively with times of 12.72 seconds and 12.81 seconds.
Mallory placed as the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdle event, finishing second out of five runners clocking in at 1:06.58.
The final event for Park-Gilbert was the 4 x 400 relay, consisting of Mallory & Madison Turner, Sharif, Padilla, and Kiarra Rubio. They finished as the runner-up out of five schools with a time of 4:07.09.
After a competitive 2025 track and field season, the Bucs look to return plenty of talent and bring this momentum into next season.
