(Scottsdale, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team (45-5, 33-5 in ACCAC) picked up another two wins on the road on Saturday at Scottsdale Community College (23-16, 18-16).
The No. 8 ranked Aztecs won their 12th straight game and snapped Scottsdale’s five-game win streak. Sophomore Aubrey Marx (Cienega HS) finished the day 3 for 8 with two RBIs and three runs scored while freshman Jiselle Nunez (Tucson Magnet HS) hit her 20th home run of the season and closed out the day going 3 for 7 with an RBI and three runs.
Sophomore Alyssa Noriega (Pueblo HS) was 4 for 6 with two RBIs. Sophomore Jessica Thompson (Tanque Verde HS) and freshman Belen Camacho (Pueblo HS) combined to throw 14 innings, giving up two earned runs with 19 strikeouts.

(8) Pima Aztecs 4, Scottsdale Artichokes 1
Thompson pitched a complete-game, giving up one run (one earned) on seven hits with 11 strikeouts and four walks on 132 pitches.
The Pima offense provided enough as they scored two runs in the 4th inning and two runs in the 6th.
The Aztecs got their first hit of the game when sophomore Natalya Rivera (Sunnyside HS) led off with a single in the 4th inning. Nunez hit a single to put two runners on base with one out. Noriega drove an RBI single to plate Rivera and freshman Julissa Lopez (Tucson Magnet HS) hit a groundout, but scored Nunez to put the Aztecs up 2-0.
Noriega and Lopez came through again in the 6th inning with back-to-back RBI singles. Marx and pinch runner Uriah Burrell (Catalina Foothills HS) scored respectively.
Noriega finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs while Lopez went 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Rivera and Marx each went 1 for 4 with a run scored and Nunez finished 1 for 3 with a run.

Game 2: (8) Pima Aztecs 7, Scottsdale Artichokes 2
Camacho threw a complete-game, giving up one run (one earned) on five hits with eight strikeouts and two walks on 98 pitches.
The Aztecs fell behind early but scored five runs in the 3rd inning to take the lead for good. They tacked on two more insurance runs in the 7th inning.
Camacho scored on an error to tie the game at 1-1. Sophomore Talia Martin (Mountain View HS) put the Aztecs ahead with an RBI single to score freshman Amerika Lopez-Bedoy (Sunnyside HS). Marx followed with a two-run home run to center field and Nunez followed with her solo homer to right field making it 5-1.
Marx and Nunez started off the 7th inning with two straight singles. Freshman Clarissa Figueroa (Mountain View HS) drove in Marx with her RBI single. Rivera hit a sacrifice-fly RBI to bring in Nunez.
Marx went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs while Nunez finished the game 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs. Martin was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run and Rivera went 1 for 4 with an RBI. Camacho helped her own cause by going 2 for 4 with a run. Noriega was 2 for 3.
The Aztecs will play at Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Tuesday in an ACCAC conference doubleheader. First game starts at 12:00 p.m.
