After Utah (12-30, 4-11) scored in their half of the fourth, Lillian Holtje homered as a pinch-hitter leading off the fifth inning. Tiare Ho-Ching and Yannixa Acuñafollowed with singles before Ashleigh Mejia delivered a three-run shot to right center to give the Sun Devils a 7-1 lead.
Lauppe and the ASU defense took over from there, twice stranding runners at third and ending the game with a leaping snag from AJ Murphy at shortstop.
Seven different players had a hit as part of ASU’s 12 hits in the game. Tanya Windle led the group with three hits while Ho-Ching, Mejia, and Allen had two apiece.
Lauppe’s second win in as many days improved her record to 8-5 on the season. She limited Utah to seven hits while striking out two.
