(Chandler, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team (47-5, 35-5 in ACCAC) earned two shutout victories on Tuesday at Chandler-Gilbert Community College (11-31, 10-26).
The No. 8 ranked Aztecs have now won 14 straight games. Freshman Jiselle Nunez (Tucson Magnet HS) closed out the day going 5 for 6 with five RBIs and two runs scored. Sophomore Talia Martin (Mountain View HS) finished 5 for 8 with two RBIs and five runs. Freshman Belen Camacho (Pueblo HS) picked up a win in the circle, and also contributed at the plate, going 4 for 7 with six RBIs and two runs. Sophomore Aubrey Marx (Cienega HS) went 3 for 5 with an RBI and four runs. Freshman Sariah Ferrentino (Sabino HS) also dominated in the circle to pick up a win.

Game 1: (8) Pima Aztecs 9, Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes 0 (5 innings)
Camacho and freshman Arianna Flores (Salpointe Catholic HS) combined for the shutout. Camacho got the win as she pitched three innings, giving up one hit with four strikeouts and two walks on 54 pitches. Flores pitched two innings with three strikeouts and two walks.
Camacho came through on offense in the 3rd inning as she hit a bases-clearing RBI double, scoring Marx, Nunez and sophomore Natalya Rivera (Sunnyside HS) to put the Aztecs up 4-0.
Rivera and Camacho hit back-to-back RBI singles in the 4th inning. Freshman Julissa Lopez (Tucson Magnet HS) also brought around three runs with her RBI double scoring Nunez, Rivera and Camacho.
Camacho finished 2 for 3 with four RBIs and a run while Lopez was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Rivera went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs and Nunez finished 1 for 2 with an RBI and a run. Martin put Pima on the scoreboard in the 1st inning after scoring on a passed ball as she was 2 for 4 with two runs. Marx closed out the game going 1 for 2 with two runs.

Game 2: (8) Pima Aztecs 14, Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes 0 (5 innings)
Ferrentino remained undefeated in the circle as she pitched a five-inning shutout, giving up three hits with four strikeouts and one walk on 82 pitches.
Up 3-0, the Aztecs took control with eight runs in the 4th inning. Martin and Marx had two straight RBI hits and Camacho hit another RBI single. Sophomore Nevaeh Bracamonte capped the barrage as she drove a ball deep to left field for a grand slam, scoring sophomore Amber Conner (Tanque Verde HS), Rivera and Camacho to make it 11-0.
The Aztecs added more insurance with three runs in the 5th inning. Nunez hit a two-run RBI single bringing in freshman Clarissa Figueroa (Mountain View HS) and Martin. Nunez scored on Camacho’s RBI double.
Nunez was a flawless 4 for 4 with four RBIs and a run; hitting an RBI double in the 1st inning and an RBI single in the 2nd. Camacho was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run while Bracamonte finished 1 for 2 with four RBIs and a run. Martin fell a home run short of the cycle as she went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs. Marx was 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs.
The Aztecs will get a break from game-play as they return to the West Campus Aztec Field next Tuesday, Apr. 29 for their final ACCAC home doubleheader of the regular season. They will face off against No. 6 Phoenix College with the first game starting at 12:00 p.m.
