(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College baseball team (35-9) came away with two wins on Tuesday in a non-conference doubleheader against Yavapai College at the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field.
The No. 16 ranked Aztecs have won 12 of their last 13 games. Sophomore Nolan Ganter (Pinnacle HS) closed out the day going 4 for 9 with three RBIs and four runs scored. Freshman Jackson Glueck finished 3 for 7 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Sophomore Caden Richards went 2 for 7 with three RBIs, two runs and two walks. Sophomore Lucas Casey (Canyon del Oro HS) and freshman Brady Hall picked up the wins on the mound.
Game 1: (16) Pima Aztecs 9, Yavapai College Roughriders 3
The Aztecs broke up a tie game with seven runs in the 4th inning.
Freshman Sean Barta set the tone with a lead-off home run to left field as the Aztecs took a 2-1 lead. Three batters later, freshman Matt MacDonald hit an RBI single to drive in sophomore Collin Senior (Horizon HS). Richards and Ganter hit back-to-back two-run RBI doubles and Glueck capped off the inning with an RBI single to make it 8-1.
Freshman Leon Cereceres hit a lead-off home run in the 6th inning as he closed out the game 1 for 3 with an RBI and two runs.
MacDonald finished 2 for 3 with an RBI and run while Ganter went 1 for 4 with three RBIs and a run. Richards was 1 for 3 with two RBIs and a run and Glueck finished 1 for 4 with an RBI. Barta closed it out at 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run and sophomore Andrew Grenert (Horizon HS) finished 1 for 2 with two runs.
Casey pitched five strong innings, giving up one run (none earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and one walk on 74 pitches.

Game 2: (16) Pima Aztecs 12, Yavapai College Roughriders 5
The Aztecs’ offense scored runs in every inning to complete the sweep.
Barta hit an RBI single to put the Aztecs on the scoreboard while Senior put Pima ahead with a two-run RBI double to make it 3-2.
The Roughriders tied the game in the 2nd inning but the Aztecs responded in the bottom-half of the inning as Ganter scored on Glueck’s RBI single to put the Aztecs ahead for good at 4-3.
Glueck hit a two-run home run in the 6th inning and finished the game 2 for 3 with three RBIs, two runs and two walks.
Ganter closed out the game going 3 for 5 with three runs scored. He hit a leadoff triple in the 5th inning and later scored on a passed ball to make it 9-5.
Barta finished 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs while Richards went 1 for 4 with an RBI and run.
Alvarez went 1 for 2 with three RBIs and two walks while Senior was 1 for 2 with two RBIs, a run and two walks.
Hall picked up his first win of the season in a relief appearance, pitching one and two-third innings, giving up two hits with one strikeout.

The Aztecs face a tough test on Saturday when they play at No. 3 ranked South Mountain Community College in ACCAC conference action. The first game starts at 12:00 p.m.
