(Austin, TX) No. 11 Sun Devil Volleyball faced two different Panther teams and came away victorious in both, beating No. 20 Florida International 3-2 and No. 18 Georgia State 4-1 on Friday as part of the East vs. West Tournament.
Arizona State (9-6) now has five ranked wins on the year after earning two more today. Second-year head coach Kristen Glattfelder now has 16 ranked wins while at ASU. The Sand Devils beat the first Panthers team in FIU (8-10) before taking down the second Georgia State (8-11).
Two pairs went 2-0 today along with the team. The No. 1 duo of junior Daniella Kensinger and sophomore Ava Williamson won both matches, moving to 9-6 on the year. At the No. 5 spot, juniors Tori Clement and Kendall Whitmarsh swept both of their matches. A relatively new pair, they now are 3-2 this season.
Game One: No. 11 ASU 3, No. 20 FIU 2
The teams split the first two matches of the dual, with Kirunchyk and Morin winning their match in three on court two. In the second wave, the No. 5 pair of Clement and Whitmarsh took care of business in straight sets. The clinch came from the top pair of Kensinger and Williamson, winning in extra points in the third set.

Like the first dual, ASU split its matches in the first wave, this time with court four getting the win from a new partnership of Besecker and Pemberton. The second wave was all Arizona State as all three pairs swept their matches, including another new duo of Haughy and McElroy on three.
