(Mesa, AZ) The Pima Community College baseball team (22-6, 10-6 in ACCAC) got back on track in ACCAC conference play on Saturday with a road sweep at Mesa Community College (17-10, 8-8).
Sophomore Collin Senior (Horizon HS) had a strong day at the plate going 5 for 8 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Sophomore Caden Richards went 4 for 8 with an RBI and two runs while sophomore Nolan Ganter (Pinnacle HS) finished 3 for 9 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Sophomores Maclain Roberts and Nate Gray (Queen Creek HS) got the wins on the mound.
Game 1: (23) Pima Aztecs 6, Mesa Thunderbirds 1
The offense took the lead early and Roberts did the rest on the mound.
Ganter hit a two-run homer in the 1st inning to score Richards and put the Aztecs up 2-0. Freshman Jackson Glueck made it 3-0 with his RBI double in the 3rd inning.
Senior had RBI singles in the 5th and 6th innings as he finished the game 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Ganter was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored while Glueck went 1 for 4 with an RBI and a run. Freshman Sean Barta had a sacrifice-fly RBI in the 5th and was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run.
Roberts threw six shutout innings, giving up two hits with six strikeouts and three walks on 85 pitches.

Game 2: (23) Pima Aztecs 10, Mesa Thunderbirds 6
The Aztecs got off to a quick start again on offense and held off a couple of rallies to earn the sweep.
The Aztecs scored four runs in the 1st inning as Ganter hit an RBI single to score freshman Leon Cereceres to put Pima on the scoreboard. Two batters later, Barta hit a sacrifice-fly RBI to score Richards. Senior and freshman Zach Plasschaert hit back-to-back RBI hits to make it 4-0.
The Thunderbirds closed the gap to 4-2 with runs in the 4th inning but the Aztecs responded in the 6th inning with another five runs.
Senior produced his fourth RBI single of the day scoring Glueck while Plasschaert followed with a two-run RBI single bringing around Barta and Senior to make it 8-2. Plasschaert capped off the inning with his run after being driven in by Richards’ RBI single.
Sophomore Andrew Grenert (Horizon HS) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the 9th and pinch runner Matt MacDonald scored on the play.
Plasschaert finished the game 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a run while Senior went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs. Barta was a perfect 3 for 3 with an RBI and a run. Richards closed it out going 3 for 5 with an RBI. Glueck was 2 for 4 with two runs. Cereceres scored two runs and had three walks.
Gray picked up the win after he pitched five innings in his start, giving up four runs (one earned) on four hits with five strikeouts and four walks.

The Aztecs will have a quick turnaround as they play Paradise Valley Community College on Monday at the West Campus Aztec Field. First game starts at 12:00 p.m.
