(Austin, TX) One pair went undefeated though No. 11 Sun Devil Beach Volleyball dropped its two matchups to close out the East vs. West Tournament, first against No. 12 LSU (3-2) and then against the host team No. 10 Texas (4-1).
Arizona State falls to 9-8 on the year, 4-8 against ranked opponents. The team went 2-2 at the tournament.
Tori Clement and Kendall Whitmarsh finished their weekend undefeated after picking up two more wins today, improving to a 5-2 record together. They dominated their match against LSU on court five. Against Texas, they moved up to the No. 4 spot and won in three sets. Individually, Clement and Whitmarsh are both 10-7.
Game One: No. 12 LSU 3, No. 11 ASU 2
It all came down to the top court in this dual. After the first wave, which saw ASU take the twos and LSU take the fours, it was tied at 1-1. Clement and Whitmarsh extended their winning streak to three in a row on court five, but the Tigers won on three. Kensinger and Williamson fought back to force a third set on court one, but LSU won it.

A three-set win by Clement and Whitmarsh was the lone point for the Sun Devils against the Longhorns. The duo moved up to the No. 4 spot and now have won four in a row as a pair. Two of the matches in the second wave went to three sets, but ASU was unable to get the wins.
