(Tempe, AZ)  Sun Devil Lacrosse (5-2) will compete in their third of four straight games at home, as they welcome the Vanderbilt Commodores (2-4) to Tempe on Saturday. The game kicks off at 11 a.m. AZT and can be viewed on ESPN+.  ASU looks to extend their home winning streak to four straight games.

Saturday will be the third meeting all-time against the two programs, with Vanderbilt having won both of the previous contests.

Sun Devil Outlook

The Sun Devils have won five of their first seven games, including all three of their first contests at home. Two Sun Devils sit atop NCAA leaderboards, as junior attacker Jordyn Behar leads the league in assists (27) and senior goalie Katie Vahle has compiled the most saves among goalies (76).

The Sun Devils have the reigning Big 12 Midfielder of the Week after Anna Viglione’s career week against No. 22 USC and Saint Joseph’s, where she tallied 25 draw controls in two games– a career-high 15 of which came against Saint Joseph’s.

The hot start has ASU leading the Big 12 Conference in a variety of categories: assists per game (7.57), draw controls per game (17.14), save percentage (.503), and points per game (22.57).  In all four categories, the Sun Devils sit at top-20 in NCAA ranks.

Scouting the Opponent

Vanderbilt comes to Tempe for the second time in their history. A team who had five athletes on the AAC Preseason All-Conference team has won just two of six games this season, however, both Vandy wins have come on the road.

In 2024 Vanderbilt finished with a 9-8 record, and lost to then-ACC opponent Florida in the first round of the ACC tournament. Florida is now in the Big 12 Conference.
