(Federal Way, WA) Ilya Kharun earned a runner-up finish in the 100 fly final setting a Big 12 record and breaking his own school record by touching the wall in a blazing 43.43, featuring his third podium finish of the week highlighting day three at NCAA Championships in Federal Way.
Kharun swam a blazing 43.43 100 fly, a personal best to open the night session of NCAA Championships. In the morning prelims he swam a 43.81, which was then a school record shaving four one-hundredths off his own personal best.
In the 400 medley relay to close out the night, the Sun Devil men finished third, setting a Big 12 record in 2:58.97 earning 32 points. Jack Wadsworth, Andy Dobrzanski, Kharun and Jonny Kulow all earned first-team All-American honors.
In the 200 free ‘B’ final Patrick Sammon won the heat securing nine points for the team after touching the wall in 1:31.28, securing second-team All-American honors. Andy Dobrzanski finished in 14th in the 100 breast touching the wall in 51.27.
The final day will feature the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and the 1650 free with prelims at 10 a.m on ESPN+

ELITE 90 AWARD
Patrick Sammon was named the recipient of the Elite 90 award presented annually by the NCAA to the student-athlete at each sport’s championship site with the highest cumulative GPA. It’s the second straight year a Sun Devil has taken home the honor after Tiago Behar won the award in 2024. Lindsay Looney won the honor last season representing Women’s Swim and Dive.
