(Irving, TX) After going undefeated against four ranked teams, juniors Tori Clement and Kendall Whitmarsh are this week’s Big 12 Pair of the Week, the second of the season for Sun Devil Beach Volleyball.
Arizona State has two pair of the week nods this season. Daniella Kensinger and Ava Williamson also won earlier this season. This is the second-straight year that ASU has had two weekly honors. For both Clement and Whitmarsh, this is their first weekly award.
Clement and Whitmarsh went undefeated at the East vs. West Tournament last weekend playing at the No. 4 and 5 spots. They earned four wins over pairs from ranked teams: No. 10 Texas, No 12 LSU, No. 18 Georgia State and No. 20 Florida International. Three of those wins came in straight sets. They improved to 5-2 together, and 10-7 individually, and their 10 wins individually lead the team.
As a team, the Sand Devils went 2-2 over the weekend at the East vs. West Tournament, picking up ranked wins over No. 20 Florida International and No. 18 Georgia State, before falling to No. 12 LSU and No. 10 Texas.
The squad is in action tonight at home against Arizona at 4 p.m. MST. The Sand Devils also are cohosting the ASU/GCU Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
